When coming up with the main cast for the Dungeon Cats, I used my own cats as the inspiration. So there is a real Joey, Bennie, and Geno with many of the same personality traits present in their fantasy counterparts. Joey loves enclosed spaces. We have little cubbies around the house and a couple of those donut shaped cat caves that he absolutely adores.
Despite this, he's also the most social of the trio. I adopted him from a cat cafe and rescue, so he was pretty well acclimated with being around people and other cats. When we got Bennie and Geno, he immediately accepted them. We needed no time for him to acclimate, he would sniff them out and start playing right away. He's similarly forward with human guests as well, which is something I take a little pride in since the rescue said he would always be a bit stand-off-ish around people. I guess it is a testament to how comfortable we've been able to make him that he no longer feels nervous around new people.
It just goes to show, don't discount that older rescue, sometimes they might end up being the sweetest one of the bunch.
